Sun / Hasslehound
SUN
SUN is the unusual pairing of world renowned experimental guitarist OREN AMBARCHI and Australian music figurehead CHRIS TOWNEND.
SUN confirms its authors as two truly original music minds, a languid and sweet pop creation, brimming with sly invention in its classicist frame. These songs simply float into the consciousness with a grand air and sublimely delicate touch. There s an easy warmth to SUN as well as some darker surprises for added depth and nuance

HASSLE HOUND
Formed approximately two and a half years ago the group consists of Tony Swain (guitar & samples), Lizzy Swimmers (vocals & violin), David Fulford (electronics & keyboards) and Mark Vernon (electronics & samples). Hassle Hound blend samples and loops from a variety of disparate sources, gelling them together with instrumentation to create quirky off-kilter pop songs. Their sound is lush and melodic and always highly evocative, combining influences from a range of unlikely sources, taking in both the contemporary and the obsolete, high and low fidelity, the popular and the obscure.
The personnel:
David Fulford currently lives in Huddersfield, flies kites and works in a kite shop.
Lizzy Swimmers currently lives and works in Warsaw. She composes music for theatre productions: Morderstwo premiered in May 2000 and will be re-staged later this year. She has collaborated with Marcus Schmickler on a project for release on the Pietho Praxis/ @Music label. Tony Swain currently lives and works in Glasgow as a musician and painter. He has an ongoing output of both solo and collaborative projects and is currently establishing his own Civic Records label as an outlet for these and other sound art projects.
Mark Vernon lives and works in Glasgow. He is involved in a range of audio activities including audio documentaries, soundscapes, radio production and soundtracks, which he has created for a number of short artists’ films (that s short films by artists, not films by short artists). As well as working on a number of other collaborative sound/music projects he also co-runs Radio Tuesday an art/pirate radio station that broadcasts in Glasgow intermittently.
The group have played live extensively in Scotland and France, alongside the likes of Mum & Dad, Melt Banana, Vibracathedral Orchestra and Volcano the Bear
